(Part 3 of 3)

Hotel Metropolitan has various restaurants inside; for example, Chinese and Japanese restaurants. Some of the restaurants are quite high-end; well, I thought they were quite expensive. Anyway, as well as there being a variety of restaurants, there is also a breakfast buffet serving continental breakfast. The buffet restaurant was full of food and it was so delicious lol. The breakfast wasn’t free. You had to pay to enter. I think it was about 2,000 yen which was about £14…Yeah, pricey I know, but the breakfast was really great and I know that you will like it! So, if you plan on going to Tokyo, I think that Hotel Metropolitan is a wonderful hotel!

Ibuki!!! Breathing New Life Into Japanese Cuisine!!!

11 Dec

Ibuki” is a very modern, unique and new Japanese sushi restaurant which opened in Maida Vale (London) and this is also a restaurant that one will definitely return to after having experienced the Ibuki experience. Ibuki is run by Mr. and Mrs. Hoshino who are a very lovely married couple and who are also very friendly and inviting.

Ibuki is originally a sushi restaurant; However, apart from the sushi – such as the “Maida Roll” and the “Vale Roll” sushi – there are other dishes that are available such as salads, tempura, teriyaki, miso soup and much more. Now that the winter season has descended upon us all, just for this bitter chilly winter period, guests can order a spicy nabe! Ibuki’s nabe is amazing! The nabe contains a wonderful flavoursome stock which is slightly spicy but not too spicy. It cooks together with various vegetables, fish and meat such as salmon, oysters, and chicken and sesame balls which are a combination that compliments each other. The taste of the broth eaten together with the vegetables, meat and fish are like the perfect marriage. Plus, the nabe is big enough to feed five or maybe even six people, therefore it is the perfect place for families, even couples and groups of friends to go to. Anyone and everyone can go there!

When it comes to dessert, you are surely going to love Ibuki’s take on this Italian classic. This dessert is made in house by Mrs. Hoshino; and before it is even consumed, one will be entrapped by its stunning beauty. The dessert is a tiramisu but with a Japanese twist. Why? It’s Japanese-y because it contains Maccha (Green tea powder). Maccha is mixed into the cream mixture so that it adopts a very green complexion which looks lovely in contrast to the dark alcohol soaked cake like element in the dessert. There is a generous amount given in relation to both components and one will not be left thinking that there wasn’t enough given. Then we move onto taste. The taste is extraordinary and is just as lovely as the presentation. There is just enough alcohol present and it is not at all overpowering. It balances rather than invades the dessert. I was impressed by Mrs. Hoshino’s skills!

“Ibuki” is a fabulous Japanese restaurant and one which those who go there will want to return to.  There are a variety of dishes on offer as well as a variety of different drinks and desserts. Finally, there is a special spicy nabe that is only available for this winter season so why not go to “Ibuki!”. Just remember that if you want to eat this spicy nabe then you will need to order it before going to Ibuki! Reservation is necessary! Please remember! lol.

Shabu-shabu is a Japanese hot-pot. When you order shabu shabu, you will receive thinly sliced beef, and various vegetables; such as onions, carrots, shitake and enokitake mushrooms. In addition, you will also receive two dipping sauces – Ponzu and Goma. Ponzu is a tart like sauce but it is a sauce which works well with the dish. Goma is nutty like sauce with a nutty aroma. Using chopsticks, you grab the beef, submerge it into the nabe, submerge it into the dipping sauce and then eat! At the end of the meal the remaining broth is then combined with udon noodles and consumed.

Mitsukoshi is a great place. It is not only in Japan, but it is also in London! If you want to eat shabu shabu, then go to Mitsukoshi! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the decor is elegant. All of the ingredients are home-grown in England and they are very fresh and good for the body. Green tea is held by beautifully looking yunomi cups; the nabe is a polished bronze and so much more. The actual flavour of the meat, vegetables, along with the udon and sauces are divine. If you want to have a wonderful shabu shabu experience then go to Mitsukoshi! You will not be disappointed!!

This is food which I made!!! You know, because I like things which are good for your health, everytime I cook I use healthy ingredients! From a long long time ago, I have always been in love with tofu! Even now I am still in love! Tofu lacks taste but if you add various seasonings then taste is suddenly born! It’s like magic! Anyway, what did I make? I didn’t just make delicious tofu, I also made vegetables and rice! For the vegetables, I used onions, broccoli and carrots! In addition, chickpeas and sun-dried tomatoes were also included! As for the rice, it was simply brown rice! Brown rice! Finally, because I like cute things, using the onions and the tofu, I changed the rice into a smiley face! haha! I’m glad that it was all delicious! Healthy food is the best! lol 🙂

This is Kitsune Soba!!! It looks delicious right?! Well, this is delicious! lol! My friend has never eaten Japanese cuisine before and so because of this,  I introduced my friend to this restaurant! I already wrote an article about this place, Misato Review (Part 1) but because I went again, I was thinking “I wonder if I should write another article???” So, here is my report! This time, I ate Kitsune Soba! I ate it while all the time, showing a smiling face! lol The broth was good, it was light and I thought it wasn’t salty! Next, the soba! You know, I thought the quantity of the soba was enough! It wasn’t too big, neither was it too small! The texture was just right! The topping was Aburaage! Basically, Aburaage is deep-fried tofu! This was also delicious! Inside of my head all I was saying was “This is tasty!!!” It was too delicious! It was like I was swimming in a Kitsune ramen ocean!!! LOL! By the way, Kitsune in English means “Fox”. According to the legend, because foxes like deep-fried tofu, we call this “Kitsune Soba” In English this is “Fox Soba“.

I made Makizushi!!! Horray!!!

Copyright © 2012 Japaneze Jusu

Due to the fact that I love Japan, this kind of deep love has made me cook Japanese cuisine! lol Amongst Japanese cuisine, if I speak honestly, I cannot choose a thing which I think is the most delicious! I LOVE EVERYTHING!!! lol However, because I’m always eating sushi, I thought “I wonder if I should attempt to make sushi???” Therefore I attempted to make sushi! I attempted to make Makizushi!!! This photo is the Makizushi which I made! You know, I have been asked by my non-Japanese friend “Making sushi is super difficult right?” but I thought “Making this isn’t that difficult!” However, I think it was rolling the sushi that was a little bit difficult! Apart from that, it was completely OK! lol Next, I had been asked by my friend “What did you put inside your sushi?” Well, I put tofu, carrots, cucumber and healthy things! 🙂 I also put ginger in that white, round bowl! Overall, It was a success making Makizushi!!! I have only made sushi once and so because of that I was pleased with the finished product! I was pleased with myself! LOL!!! Plus, my family ate everything in the blink of an eye!!! Haha!!! I wonder what’s next…
