Keeping Japan on the Map Conference – 18th November 2011

There are a number of UK universities that have staff engaging in significant research on a range of Japan-related subjects especially since the tragic events of March 11th 2011; and so this conference is a celebration of that work. Venue: Birkbeck College, University of London.

Japanese Play: “Getting Lost” 迷子になるわ – November 24th 2011

“Getting Lost” is a Japanese contemporary play by award-winning playwright Shiro Maeda. This play will be performed in English. It is free to attend but booking is essential. Venue – Japan Foundation, London.

Japanese Taster for Schools Programme (JTS) – November 25th 2011

This programme was formerly known as “StepOutNet” and is for those who are either native speakers of Japanese or who are fluent speakers of Japanese. We visit various different schools across the UK and hold taster Japanese language sessions in schools who may be considering introducing Japanese into their Foreign Language Programme. The next Volunteer Training Day is on November 25th 2011.

I am a member of this programme and it is really fun and enjoyable!

Experience Japan Exhibition – November 25th 2011

This exhibition is the place to go if you have ever thought about studying for a degree at a Japanese University. With the growing number of degree programmes now being taught in English, you need not worry if you can’t speak Japanese! Also this event is good if you have ever wondered what it would be like to work in Japan for example, teaching English! Premiere Japan 2011: Japanese Cinema at the Barbican – November 25th-27th 2011

Here you can watch six of the latest Japanese films including drama, documentary and fantasy anime including “Legend of the Millennium Dragon”.  Premiere Japan 2011

United Cube Entertainment- London’s First K-pop Concert!!!! – December 5th 2011

4Minute, Beast, and G.NA of  Korea’s CUBE Entertainment , will be heading to the UK this December for the first ever K-Pop Showcase in the UK. ‘United Cube in London’ will take place at  London’s O2 Brixton Academy on Monday 5th December.Prices are incredibly steep though….
