How do I introduce myself??? わかんないの!

21 Sep

Introducing yourself in Japanese is sooooo easy! There is a basic 3-sentence structure that you need to follow and that’s it!

マリア: はじめまして!マリアです。どうぞよろしく。

チャーり: はじめまして!チャーりです。どうぞよろしく。

Maria: Hajimemashite! Maria desu. Douzo yoroshiku.

Cha-ri: Hajimemashite! Charlie desu. Douzo yoroshiku.

When introducing yourself, 私は(watashi ha “ha” read as “wa”) can be omitted. I just think that it sounds more natural when you are speaking and it sounds more like natural Japanese when speaking to a native speaker. Also あなた (anata “you”) is equally also omitted and avoided!

はじめまして – is used when you meet someone for the first time

どうぞよろしく – is used when you introduce yourself and at other times when you are asking someone for a favour.

If you want to make your introduction that little bit more formal then just add お願いします(onegaishimasu) after どうぞよろしく!
